Yes. All WAYA Coaches are required to complete the PCA "Double Goal Coach" course. WAYA is committed to the principles of Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and is against the "win-at-all-cost" mentality. PCA calls a positive coach a "Double Goal" Coach. A win-at-all cost coach only has one goal - to win. A positive coach shares that goal (to win), but has a second goal that is even more important - to use the sports experience to help young people to learn life lessons and gain positive character traits that will help them be successful throughout their lives.
Each year, WAYA hosts a FREE PCA workshop for all WAYA coaches and parents. The focus of these workshops is to educate our coaches and parents on the principles of positive coaching. To read more about PCA please visit www.positivecoach.org.
Participants with a higher skill level or experience may "play up" in an older division with the permission of the Athletic Director and league commissioner. Children who are not at the minimum age required by the league by the deadline will not be allowed to play during the season. Insurance does not cover and is not intended for those who do not meet the minimum age requirements.
Rental of any or all of the gyms at WAYA includes exclusive use of the rented gym space for the time designated. Only WAYA members are allowed to rent our facilities. More details about Facility Rental.
