  • What type of curriculum do you use?

We use a theme-based curriculum that is fun for the children, while allowing the teachers the opportunity to enhance children's Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Social, Emotional, and Intellectual skills. Children learn through play to learn to enhance their cognitive skills. Lesson plans are posted in the classroom for you to review each week. Our Pre-K Lead Teacher Ms. Betsy Davis is also our Curriculum Director. Ms. Betsy works with our lead teachers in order to ensure lesson plans are age appropriate, while also geared towards the progression toward Kindergarten readiness.

  • I have heard your waiting list is long. What is the likelihood my child will get in, and is it even worth filling out the wait list form?

Yes! It is always worth getting on the list. There is ALWAYS a chance that a spot will open up. However, again, we are unable to predict when that will happen. Please check with our Preschool Director ( to see if we have a wait list for your child's class too.

  • Once my child is on the wait list, when will I receive information about him or her getting into the program?

Once a spot opens up in the appropriate classroom, we will begin calling people on the wait list. You are welcome to call and see what number your child is on the wait list, however, it is difficult for us to predict when a spot will open up.

  • Do you take children mid-semester, or do I have to wait until a new semester begins?

Yes. We take children at any point in time when there is an opening. Tuition will be prorated at any time of entrance to our preschool program.

  • Does becoming a member of WAYA increase my chances of getting my child into the preschool?

No. We no longer take membership as a priority as of December 1st, 2011. Please note, everyone must become a member upon enrollment in WAYA Preschool. Wait list priority goes in the following order: Siblings of currently enrolled students for a specific enrollment period and then new students. Within each category, priority goes by the date of your wait list registration. Therefore, the earlier you sign up the better!

  • Do the children enrolled in WAYA preschool get the use of the entire WAYA facility?

Yes. The children spend 45-60 minutes each day on the playground. Also, in the event of inclement weather or just for fun, the children use the gyms for riding bikes and to practice other gross motor skills. Classes will also go on walking field trips when appropriate. Pre-K and other classes will use the gymnastics space upstairs.
