COVID-19 Updates

WAYA COVID-19 Updates

We care about the health of our families, staff and community partners and we want to keep everyone updated on what we’re doing to combat COVID-19. This page will be kept up to date with the latest information regarding COVID-19’s effect on WAYA.

MONDAY 5/4/2020

While we held out hope of having a delayed spring season for soccer, volleyball, and flag football, the governor's timeline for reopening Texas does not include gyms or youth sports in phase one which goes through May 18th, 2020.  In response to this information, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 spring season.

In addition, due to ongoing changes to the shelter-in-place protocols, extended public school closures, and childcare limited to essential workers only, WAYA Preschool will remain physically closed through the end of the school year, May 22nd, 2020.

WEDNESDAY 5/20/2020

WAYA will remain closed through Sunday, May 31st.

TUESDAY 4/14/2020

WAYA will remain closed through Friday, May 8th, in response to the City of Austin and Travis County's extension of the shelter-in-place orders.
If your child is a student at WAYA Preschool, please follow closure dates and updates provided by WAYA Preschool Director, Yvette Aguilar, as they may differ from WAYA wide closures.

THURSDAY 4/2/2020

In response to the Governor's extension of Austin's shelter-in-place orders, WAYA will remain closed through Monday, May 4th.
If your child is a student at WAYA Preschool, please follow closure dates and updates provided by WAYA Preschool Director, Yvette Aguilar, as they may differ from WAYA wide closures.

WEDNESDAY 3/25/2020

Due to the City of Austin's shelter-in-place orders, WAYA will remain closed through April 13th. We will continue to keep you posted as more information is received.

WEDNESDAY 3/18/2020

As we work together to safeguard against the spread of COVID-19, we wanted to reach out to you, our WAYA community, to update you on our continued efforts.

  • In response to the City of Austin's guidelines & AISD's closures, WAYA will continue to be CLOSED through Friday, April 3rd.
  • WAYA will assess each program individually to determine the best course of action. If you are currently enrolled in a WAYA Spring League, expect an email from your coach.
  • Currently enrolled preschool students will continue to receive updates from the WAYA Preschool Director.
  • WAYA will continue to assess necessary changes to our programs and will keep you updated through email and through the WAYA COVID-19 page

We are encouraged by the amazing strength and kindness that we have already seen throughout the Austin Community and we appreciate the offers of support.

We will continue to monitor news from the citystate and federal health authorities and will keep everyone updated on WAYA's plan.

Stay positive, stay active and we will see you soon!

TUESDAY 3/17/2020

WAYA would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to all of those who have already become Family Day Sponsors. Your generous support will make a big difference for WAYA and the thousands of children that participate in our leagues, camps, classes, preschool and more.

For the health and safety of our community, and in response to the City of Austin's regulations regarding large group gatherings, WAYA will be postponing the 2020 Family Day Celebration.

WAYA will still be honoring benefits for sponsors and we will continue to welcome new Family Day Sponsors that wish to support WAYA during these uncertain times.

We will keep you updated with any new developments, and once again, we are so grateful for each and every one of you!

Stay positive, stay active and we will see you soon!

FRIDAY 3/13/2020

WAYA takes the health and safety of our families very seriously and out of an abundance of caution, WAYA will be CLOSED until Sunday, March 22nd.

We will continue to monitor news from the citystate and federal health athorities and will keep everyone updated on WAYA's plan.

Stay positive, stay active and we will see you soon!
