Community Involvement: Impact Tomorrow
For over thirty years, WAYA has been committed to building a stronger community by investing in its youth through recreational programs.
The Impact Tomorrow fund is a natural evolution to WAYA's charter and consists of five scholarships that recognize character, academic excellence, service and athletic achievement.
Creating these scholarships will reinforce WAYA's mission to encourage every child to get involved and to reach their unique potential. Specifically, Impact TOMORROW is for graduating Austin area high school students and is established to:
- Identify and financially assist college-bound students within our community. With the rising cost of tuition, books, and more, we want to assist deserving students who seek higher education.
- Promote volunteerism and citizenship in our community. We believe one person can make a difference and want to instill that reaching out and bringing hope, help, and meaning into the lives of others, brings fulfillment into our own lives.
- Expand WAYA's role in the lives of Austin area students. Many children start WAYA programs at a very young age and grow with us. We use the platform of sports and other activities to teach children "life" lessons that have value beyond the game itself. WAYA believes that our programs are an extension of a child's education. We are eager to be a part of their future.

Awarded to a student athlete who has participated in WAYA sports and has lettered in at least two seasons at the Varsity level. This recipient has shown to embrace our positive sports culture through hard work, perseverance, ethics, respect, and dedication.

Presented to a high achieving student who demonstrates overall leadership qualities, displayed excellence in academics, leadership in extracurricular and/or community activities as well as financial need.

Given to a senior that has served as a good ambassador for WAYA. Through participation in a variety of our programs, recipient is a role model for leadership, service, commitment, and responsibility.

Questions and Information
Where do I pick up an application?
Applications are available at WAYA, in most high school counselor's offices, and available for download (see above). Applicants must be Austin area residents and may apply for multiple scholarships based upon their qualifications as outlined in the detail for each.
Description of the selection process:
The Impact TOMORROW Scholarship selection includes a two-step process. Semi-finalists are selected by a blind review of the completed application and essay questions. Scholarship winners are chosen after an interview with various members of the WAYA board and Scholarship Advisory Committee.
How may scholarships be used?
An Impact TOMORROW Scholarship may be used for tuition, books or room and board, and is paid directly to the recipient's school to meet the financial needs of the student. Scholarships will be awarded in June and are non-renewable. The amount of the scholarships will range between $1,000 - $4,000, and is dependent upon the number of recipients.
How do I submit my application?
